Our story
Since 2005, Signature Home Inspections has provided thorough, reliable inspections that help clients make confident real estate decisions in the Sandhills of North Carolina.
Our team brings together an NC-licensed general contractor, an NC-licensed realtor, NC-licensed home inspectors and licensed drone pilots. Behind that is hands-on experience in custom home building, property investment, contracting and extensive home renovations. When we look at a house, we look at it as people who have built, renovated, bought and sold homes ourselves.
Malcolm McLester

With a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and decades of hands-on experience, he brings a rare combination of business acumen and real-world construction knowledge to Signature Home Inspections. A former custom home builder and high-level manufacturing facility manager, he is a licensed General Contractor (License #23366), licensed Home Inspector (License #1942), licensed Real Estate Agent (License #267939), and a licensed drone pilot.
His background gives him a practical, builder’s-eye view of every home—understanding not just what to look for, but why it matters. He founded Signature Home Inspections in 2005 and has spent years mentoring the next generation of home inspectors. His builder’s perspective and commitment to thorough, honest work continue to shape every inspection we perform for North Carolina homeowners.
Andrew McLester
Andrew is a licensed North Carolina home inspector (License #6128), a military veteran, a husband and a father. He leads every inspection with integrity, precision and genuine care, and he takes the time to explain what he finds and answer your questions.

That is the whole idea: we examine every major system with tools like thermal imaging and drones, then deliver a clear, photo-rich report with practical recommendations, so you always know exactly what you are buying or selling.
How we work
- We inspect the home from the roof to the crawl space, including the parts most people never see.
- We use a thermal camera to look for moisture and insulation gaps, and a drone when a roof is unsafe to walk.
- We explain findings in plain English and separate safety issues and repairs from routine maintenance.
- We deliver an online report with photos, a summary for your agent and a PDF copy.

Crawl spaces are where many Sandhills homes keep their secrets: moisture, sagging insulation, plumbing leaks and disconnected ductwork. We go into every accessible crawl space and photograph what we find, so you can see it too.
